A founding member of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Carolyn came to BMC to continue studying with Merce in the summer of 1953, after attending Juilliard. She stayed with the company for the following twenty years, often collaborating with Merce, John Cage, and Robert Rauschenberg. One of the most iconic modern dancers of the 20th century, Carolyn continued working as a dance choreographer for many years after retiring as a dancer.
