Portrait of a woman. The portrait is painted from a frontal perspective, with the woman gazing directly at the viewer. She wears a blue collared garment, which is rendered with many transparent, painterly layers of color. Light from the right side of the composition illuminates her short curly hair and face, which has a neutral expression and dark red lips that are complemented by round earrings of the same color. A swirling and painterly background of forest green, yellow, brown, and amber tones intensifies on the right half of the composition, and becomes more saturated with pale yellows and light color along the right side.
