Remembrance of James Leo Herlihy 1926-1993
Hi Ho Jamie!
You were “Jim” to us at BMC–you took on Jamie later from your Irish childhood.
You died your death with the same personal integrity you had practiced in your life.
Blessed person, marvelous friend–inspirer and benefactor–caring for others in everyday reality as well as in storybooks.
Novels, plays, acting roles, movies roles, gardener on your L.A. hillside, one who celebrated: a landscaper + home-maker for us, in endlessly creative hospitality.
You painted a glorious life-size male angel–you are one!
You got your priorities straight
I remember on our first interview at BMC, you were 19 (and I was 29)--you were wearing a white shirt + a sky blue tie to match your eyes., fresh from the Navy–good at drawing movie actresses–not exactly Albers material. BIG FEET SHY BODY DREAMER LOVER BEST FRIEND – M.C. Richards
