D., the artist and photographer, was a founding member of the Merce Cunningham company, and the first dance critic for The Village Voice. She has been a teacher and a folk singer, is a psychotherapist and leads Mother/Daughter, Mother/Son workshops with her eldest son and daughter. She is married, and a mother, stepmother and grandmother. She lives in Massachusetts.
