Footnotes on the Year 1944

Panel text reads:
“You got any liederkranz down there?”
“Who has my copy of Ullyses[sic]?”
“The thing is, of course, that I don’t know what size he wears–Do you think just a large Kidney shape would do?”
“The trash from the office is never as interesting as the trash from the study building; don’t you think?”
“Do you think there’s anyone else who feels this way?”
I just need a little something to round off my meal…..
Saturday night
“I need only a snippet for my matière.”
“.....I was thinking of doing it in maroon and vermillion. Good, manly colors, you know”
