This collection includes BMC ephemera as well as letters written to her family by Alma Stone, the first African American student to attend Black Mountain College. These letters shed light on an important milestone in the history of integration in the Jim Crow South, ten years before the Supreme Court ruling on Brown v. Board of Education.
